I’m assuming that those doing the attacking realize that this could mean jail time should they be discovered. Someone in the comments section on that site states The State newspaper has some information regarding the identity of that person.

Other winners include those who are obviously supporters of the Governor and close allies like Gov candidate Nikki Haley and Lt Gov candidate Tim Scott and although they welcome the less intrusive stares at Sanford, it’s just a brief respite.

All that being said, Bauer is a candidate and in my opinion will continue to be one.

While he certainly has the position to make the leap and the looks to attract some voters, the accusations directed at him regarding his sexuality will certainly make it difficult to win a Republican primary.

He also looked a bit like he was grandstanding in calling for the Governor to step down. (actually he joined a number of other grandstanders in this respect)

The accusations will probably keep Bauer from launching any sort of momentum in this race and it should be apparent very early that he will not be a factor.

Neither of these guys have any sort of chance in the primary so will focus on other candidates. Look for some interesting comments from them over the course of the next several months though.

Look for that to change as things heat up with Drake.

While FITS is looking for the fire regarding “hands in the cookie jar” investigations involving Sheheen to get cranked up should he win the nomination, it’s my opinion that Drake’s campaign will never allow it to get that far, getting that wagon going with their own horse.

Should be an interesting race between these two for the chance to lose in the general election.

Name recognition will obviously be a key factor McLeod will be unable to overcome although the funds raised should allow him to cause a stir.

Dropping SAT scores and the continued poor performance of schools in SC put Rex in the position of can’t win.

Attending and speaking at the retreat in Myrtle Beach with the state Assoc of School Administrators certainly doesn’t help his cause.

No impact in this race.

Those two things, in my opinion, make him the likely nominee for the Democrats in the June primary. Being vocal regarding the push to remove Governor Mark Sanford and leading the charge to force Governor Sanford to accept the $700 million stimulus money by filing a lawsuit is not hurting his cause within his party either.

Alot will be made of Drake’s appearance by those in the blogosphere which won’t help his cause.

This race for the Dems is likely to boil down to Drake and Sheheen, with Drake having the dealmaking ability to get the nod.

McMaster has made some self-generated headlines by going after high-profile targets like Craigslist and ignoring the same shenanigans in his own backyard.

While I see the AG as a legitimate contender along with Gresham Barrett, I have no doubt that his opponents will bring up the headline grabbing methods and let the citizens of South Carolina know just how bumbling Mac and his staff appear to be.

McMaster will have the money and support to run a high-profile campaign and could possibly convince South Carolina that his efforts to go after those like Craigslist are indeed sincere, regardless of how badly he looked pursuing them.
